Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the leading business membership organization representing a cross-section of business interests, has condemned the terrorist act which saw the bombing and destroying innocent lives and businesses at the Dusit D2 Hotel in Nairobi.
“These cowards cannot win over the determined people of Kenya and we urge all of us to stand together during this trying and sad time in our country. We also call upon all peace loving Kenyans and visitors from all walks of life to pray for the affected families and to the law enforcement officers please stay ahead to keep on top of these cowards,” said KNCCI National Director Kiprono Kittony.
Further KNCCI has urged the international community to stand with Kenya and refrain from issuing travel advisories saying this will empower terrorism and affect businesses. KNCCI has also urged the business community to resume business also calling on foreign investors who were eyeing the Kenyan market to continue with their plans
“We call to our development partners and friends of Kenya to stand with us during this time. These cowards only want to cause terror and scare people. We must not allow them to feel victorious by succumbing to their wishes, but rather seek the cooperation of all our partners in dealing this menace a final blow in order to have a safe and peaceful country and world secure for the generations to come,” adds Kittony.
On the other hand, KNCCI has called on the government and the relevant ministries to consider setting up a safety net fund that can help businesses recover after such attacks with terrorism with many businesses already affected in the last few years from various terrorist attacks.
