KNCCI HOSTS KENYA MOZAMBIQUE INVESTMENT FORUM IN NAIROBI

The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce & Industry on Wednesday 21st November co-hosted the Kenya Mozambique business forum on the sidelines of the State Visit by H.E. President of Mozambique Felipe Nyusi to Kenya.

During the event graced by President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta and the President of Mozambique Felipe Nyusi the chamber called for the two presidents to help in convincing other leaders in the continent to ratify the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement to allow for businessmen between African countries to trade.

“KNCCI & African Chambers have pledged to urge African governments to ratify the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement to improve intra Africa trade as Africans simply do not trade and the numbers are clearly evident,” said KNCCI National Vice Chairperson James Mureu.

Speaking at the same event held at the Hotel Villa Rosa Kempinski in Westlands Nairobi President Kenyatta called on Kenyan businessmen to diversify their exports to the South African country with the current trade figures currently in favor of Mozambique.

The President also took opportunity to announce that Kenya and Mozambique had to finally agreed and signed an appropriate Visa waiver framework facilitating people to people contact, as well as enhancing trade between our two nations.

Mr Mureu lauded the visa waiver by the two presidents saying it would allow movement of labour, goods and ideas as well as overall trade between both countries.

The forum also provided a direct opportunity to discuss the business community interests and concerns in Mozambique and Kenya with both President.
